Laura, a Snow Holiday Expert at Travel & Co, was fortunate enough to spend sometime exploring Sun Peaks over the 25/26 season and is here to share!
Sun Peaks has a way of sneaking up on you. It is a big mountain experience, with an intimate village that combines to create magic. It is where the village feels like a community, the snow keeps falling and the lift lines hardly exist. Every time our team go, we come back with a new favourite spot. These are our secret spots that are too good not to share.

Skiing
From there, I am hitting the slopes. I head up Sunburst Express and hit Cruiser (Blue) – a classic – to warm up the legs.
From there, I head to Spillway (Black) or Sting (Black). If they’ve been groomed, it’s game over. Fast, smooth, and uncrowded—these runs are pure joy as you cut up the corduroy.
As the day continues, I never skip The Other Way (Blue) for a cruisy ride and Sunnyside (Black) when I want a bit more edge.
Tree riders—don’t sleep on the Gils or Cariboo Trees. They’re quiet, powder-filled, and full of natural flow. Bug Out is another cheeky one that always delivers.

Food
Breakfast is always great at Vertical Café. It’s a warm, family-run business and always buzzing with locals grabbing their caffeine hit before heading up the mountain. They serve organic, locally sourced food – the best way to set you up for a big day!
You can’t miss the iconic cinnamon buns at Sun Peaks — the recipe’s been around since 1980 and no one’s been able to replicate it. Be at Sunburst Bar on the top of the Sunburst Express right as it opens. Get a warm hot chocolate too and soak up the sun on the patio.
For lunch or a casual après, Bottoms Bar & Grill is a no-brainer. It’s a classic ski hill saloon where locals and visitors get along as old friends. It is mountain culture at its peak – bonus head back after dinner for as the bar keeps rolling into the night.
For something more elevated, Oya Japanese is perfect for dinner. Think cozy atmosphere and heart-warming ramen and sushi platters great for sharing.
Activities
I’m obsessed with the alpine fondue & ski experience—nothing beats torch-lit descents after cheese and wine at altitude. It is perfect for a special date night.
The snowshoe trails are criminally underrated. Whether you book a twilight tour or just head out on your own, they’re peaceful and give you a whole new view of the valley.
The ice-fishing is a unique, must do activity. Your guide sets you up in a warm tent, while you sip hot chocolate and (hopefully) get some trout biting on your fishing line sitting through holes in the ice.
Shopping
After a day of skiing, I head to Ohana’s Deli, a hidden gem worth wandering. Their handmade meals and charcuterie packs are perfect if you’re staying in a condo, and they’ll even customize for groups.
For something more souvenir-y, Alpine Images is my go-to. Local art, quirky finds, and especially special around Christmas.
Events
If you can time it right, Pride Weekend (end of Feb) and the Savour Culinary Festival (end of March) both bring so much energy and fun to the resort. It’s a great reminder that Sun Peaks is more than just a ski resort, it’s a full experience built on community, great snow, and simple moments done right.
