Gatokae

Gatokae Island is situated on a coral lagoon at the southeastern tip of the Solomon’s Western Province. It is close to Marovo Lagoon, one of the richest biological areas on Earth, and offers a huge bio-diversity of jungle and marine life. The fishing here is unspoiled and varied.

Overview

Gatokae offers a huge variety of sport and game fishing including topwater, light game, reef and estuary fishing. The fish are plentiful and the action great.

On its sheer drop-offs you can troll along for Spanish mackerel, wahoo and dog-tooth tuna. You can pop for giant trevally, red bass and coral trout and if it’s the thrill of the chase you’re after, then game-fish options await with Pacific sailfish, blue, black and striped marlin, wahoo and yellow fin tuna. In quiet jungle rivers you can catch mangrove jack, estuary cod, brassy trevally and spot tail bass.

You can even fish right off the wharf in front of your accommodation. The fishing opportunities are endless, and you can catch a huge variety of sport and game fishing from our recommended fishing locations.
