Add On: Car Rental

Furano and Biei sit spread out across central Hokkaido, and public transport here is limited. That’s the main reason a car rental earns its place, not for getting to the mountain, but for exploring around it.

If you’re staying in downtown Furano, having a car makes the short run up to Kitanomine or Shin Furano genuinely convenient. It’s also the easiest way to reach nearby ski spots like Kamui Ski Links (1 hr drive) and Tomamu (1 hour ten minutes) to change up your day.

Rental counters are easy to find at both Furano Station and Asahikawa Airport, with the drive from Asahikawa taking about an hour along a well-maintained scenic route. Studless snow tyres come standard in winter.

For travellers wanting to build in a day trip to more skiing mountains, or just avoid being tied to bus timetables, a car rental adds real flexibility to a Furano stay.
