Tour Leaders

Malcolm and Rosie Dawson (at Park City 2024)

This year Rosie and Malcolm escorted two groups – one to the Italian Dolomites and one to Park City in Utah. In 2023, they escorted a group to Aspen. They have been group tour leaders for a number of trips prior to this. But whether on trail or off, this duo’s passion for the snow is unrivaled. Malcolm and Rosie have a real affinity and passion for skiing having met at Mt Ruapehu (back in the day) while both working in the ski industry. They have traveled to Canada, USA, Japan and Europe on numerous ski holidays enjoying what different parts of the world offer in ski new experiences. Malcolm has worked in the outdoor recreational industry for over 30 years, while Rosie has been in office administration and business management roles. With many years skiing experience in New Zealand and the Northern Hemisphere, Malcolm and Rosie would love to share their passion of the outdoors with like minded ski and board enthusiasts. Malcolm and Rosie are looking forward to leading this group to Aspen, Colorado in the USA.  Come and experience it with us!

Four Mountains

Each with its own unique flavour the four mountains offer plenty of options: Perfect for Group Ski trips.

Snowmass: Larger than the other three mountains combined, featuring unmatched vertical descent, inviting glades and groomers.

Buttermilk: Think groomers, beginner friendly, terrain parks for beginners and pros!

Aspen Highlands: Wild & welcome. Plenty of expert terrain and one for the Bowl hikers and Cloud Nine action. Carve yourself some new lines here!

Aspen Mountain: Go above and beyond. Quad-burning groomers, steep gladed runs all leading to the heart of Aspen.

Itinerary

2025 Ski USA Hosted Small Group Tour Itinerary

What to expect: The itinerary on this group trip is flexible, and your hosts will adapt the itinerary to suit the group. With a SKI30 lift pass included in the tour cost, you can choose what days you want to ski, and when to take it easy off the slopes. The choice is entirely yours – every day on this small group tour is your ski holiday, your way!

Day 1 Arrive at Snowmass Village

Transfer to Snowmass Village and check into your accommodation at The Timberline Condominiums. If you arrive early enough you may wish to visit one of the village food markets to get a few groceries.
Your Group Hosts Malcolm and Rosie will be in touch to arrange for everyone to meet in the Village tomorrow to get to know each other.

Day 2 Snowmass

Breakfast is at your leisure (own arrangements) while in Snowmass. Your studio room at The Timberline has self-catering facilities and there are lots of cafés in the Village where you can sit and have breakfast while taking in the mountain village vibes.
This morning you will meet the rest of the group, get your SKI30 lift pass and pick up any rental ski gear you have pre-booked. Please pre-book your ski rentals through us in advance to ensure you have the correct sizes and gear reserved. After discussing what runs and areas to ski and everyone’s skiing ability, we get straight into it, and hit the slopes!

If this is your first time skiing overseas you may choose to join a ski school lesson on the mountain (lesson places often sell out in advance, so please pre-book these with us).
Towards the end of the afternoon, we will arrange to meet for après ski to relive the day’s activity, snow stories and debrief over a drink and/or dinner together (optional).
Days 3-14 Snowmass, Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, and Buttermilk Mountain

Breakfast is at your leisure (own arrangements).

Each evening, the next day’s skiing, activities and options will be discussed with the group, so you can decide then whether to spend the mornings skiing with your fellow ski pals, carving out your own tracks,
or doing something different. As a group, you may decide to have lunch together or do an activity together (optional). Alternatively, you can choose to soak in the ski village atmosphere with its quaint boutique stores, cafes and restaurants, or simply unwind and relax in your room. It’s your ski holiday, your way!
With two hosts with you on your tour, and four mountains to cover, you may decide to split into two groups some days and ski different runs or mountains. It all depends on what you decide to do as a group or as individuals.

Over the course of the tour, we will explore all four mountains in the area: Snowmass, Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, and Buttermilk Mountain. Each mountain has its own unique flavour and offers plenty of options for all skiing levels and abilities:
Snowmass: Larger than the other three mountains combined, featuring unmatched vertical descent, inviting glades and groomers.
Buttermilk: Think groomers, beginner friendly, terrain parks for beginners and pros!
Aspen Highlands: Wild & welcome. Plenty of expert terrain and one for the Bowl hikers and Cloud Nine action. Carve yourself some new lines here!
Aspen Mountain: Go above and beyond. Quad-burning groomers, steep gladed runs all leading to the heart of Aspen.

At the end of each day there will be a bar or restaurant booked by your hosts where you can come together to enjoy some social time and conversation with the group (optional). If you are travelling on your own, this is a great time to enjoy the mountain après scene in a friendly, social environment with other like-minded, active Kiwi and Aussie travellers.

Additional activities that we recommend considering in Aspen are the Snowcat Dinner Tour, where you climb aboard a snowcat and embark on a dynamic dining experience at Lynn Britt Cabin or Cloud Nine Alpine Bistro or if you’re feeling the need for speed – The Breathtaker Alpine Coaster! Please ask us for more info or to book these additional winter activities for you in advance, when you are booking your tour.

Day 15 Depart Snowmass
Check out of your room at The Timberline and bid farewell to your new ski friends. Transfer to the airport or your next arrangements.
