Happy 50th Aspen Snowmass, I got you an Alpine Coaster

The 2017/2018 season is a huge milestone for Aspen Snowmass – as it marks 50 years of operation.

And what better way to celebrate your 50th birthday than by opening an Alpine Coaster?

We know, amazing.

The Breathtaker Alpine Coaster, named after the effect it hopes to have on its riders, spans 1.6kms and 120 vertical metres through the woods at Elk Camp.

Riders can control the speed of their car, as anti-collision technology keeps everyone safe.

Winding through the quintessential Colorado trees, riders will get their thrills traversing between Gunner’s View and Sandy Park.

Opening late December and running to late April, the coaster will primarily be open during the daytime – except for special occasions.

The coaster will be coasting when the not-to-be-missed weekly Ullr Nights winter wonderland parties take place.

Celebrating the Norse god of snow, Ullr Nights are family friendly Friday night events – and they are about to step it up a level as the Breathtaker brings its hairpin turns and 45km/h speeds to the parties.

Beyond the Breathtaker, the 50th celebrations continue season-long – now that sounds like a party.
